Japanese Woodblock Printing
Saturday 5 September, 10.00am-5.00pm
This is my first time at the Northern Print Workshop in Newcastle.
Participants will learn how to carve their own woodblock using Japanese tools, to print in colour on Japanese paper, and will produce a variety of prints. Blocks/materials will be available to purchase at the end of the day.

I explain the medium through demonstrations of printing and cutting techniques. Participants experience cutting blocks and printing in layers of colour.

I will be teaching week 3 of the Summer School.
Week 1: 20–23 July, Digital Imaging and Printmaking
Week 2: 27–30 July, Acrylic Resist Etching
Week 3: 3-6 August 2009, Japanese Woodblock Printing

In June I will be taking up residence at the Graphic Print Studio and The Red Stables in Dublin for two months.
I try to keep an open agenda for residencies but am hoping to do some collaborative printing and etching.
I will also be giving a series of master classes at the Graphic Print Studio, and daily demonstrations to the public in The Red Stables courtyard as part of St. Anne’s Rose Festival.
